Rocket Science Tri Coach Becky Bryant is a USAT Certified Coach with over 20 years of triathlon experience. She swam competitively, bicycled and ran most of her life, and fell in love with the sport of triathlon in the mid-1980's.
Her first triathlon was both disastrous and wonderful. Talked into doing an Olympic distance event without any training, her legs cramped up completely transitioning from bike to run. She collapsed on the side of the road, stretched, and recovered enough to take 3rd place. The event, the finish, and the wonderful attitude of fellow triathletes who support and cheer on their competitors even as they gasp for air hooked her. And the disastrous portion of that first tri put her on the quest for better ways to complete a triathlon. She continues that pursuit, staying up-to-date on current training and racing protocol.
Becky has coached newbies who couldn't put their faces in the water and experienced triathletes with longer distance or faster times as their targets. Her triathlon and coaching experiences help her relate to the athletes she coaches, their desires, and the challenges they face in fitting training into their busy schedules.
Becky is, actually, a rocket scientist, with a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering. The analytical skills that make up the engineering side of her are put to work developing training plans, making sense of data, tracking progress, and identifying areas of focus. She is married with two daughters, a dog, and a chinchilla. And contrary to how many people think of the stereotypical engineer, Becky loves working with people, especially when it comes to the sports of the triathlon!
